All World Sports New Mexico Softball Rules and Guidelines
All teams accept these policies and guidelines upon entering any All World tournaments. Team Manager is responsible to bring a legal team to all All World tournaments. At any time we reserves the right to reclassify teams. Check player ranking before each tournament to make sure your team is legal. Manager is also responsible for team payment. Poor Sportsmanship will not be allowed. Managers are responsible for players, coaches, and team spectators. No F Bombs, No Throwing the Bat, No Taunting, if disputes or problems arise, only managers can talk to umpires or director. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated! All teams must be registered with All World Sports and have a legal roster on-line.
Entry/Pull-Out Fees
• $50 Late-Pullout Fee (less than 4 days before the event)
• Teams pulling out after the brackets are done or when the event entered is sold out are responsible for the entire entry fee.
• If we can replace your team, we will only charge the $50 late pullout fee.
• $50 for all bounced check fee.
Rain-Out Policy
• 0 games played: Full Future Credit or 85% refund. • 1 or 2 games played: Divided the entry fee by minimum # of games played. • Credit amount is the games remaining. For example, for a $300 4GG tournament where only one game is played, the team would be entitled to a 75% refund or credit, $225. • If the game guarantee is met: No Credit or refund. • Once a game starts it is considered to be a game played. • Credit is only good for tournaments run by the same director group. • All World Sports reserves the right to modify game times, tournament location and or structure due to field conditions, time constraints, safety issues, park rental issues, or inclement weather.
2012 Approved Softball Bats All Bats Must Be ASA or USSSA Approved “And Readable”. If umpire or director can’t read ASA or USSSA on Bat, will not be allowed.
Approved Combats • Exception – No Combat Fast Pitch. • If not sure about a bat – have the director check. • No Ultras 1 & 2 “No Senior Bats”. • No Boombah Bats • No Fast Pitch Bats - ANY BAT WITH A MINUS # ON IT Includes Women Purple Virus – White Phoenix, Etc. • Any Player That Hits A Defense Player With Batted Ball “And Player Is Hurt” • AWS Has The Right To Ask For The Bat And Have That Bat Checked For Tampering If Player Refuses To Give Up The Bat Player And Team Can Be Suspended Or Banned For Life
Game & Game Times 1. Standard games are 55 Min -75 Max. We may increase or decrease time limits if applicable. 2. Game time is forfeit time - Grace period can be given for 1st game only, 5-10 min. Will Start game with 8 players. 3. Must be ready to play 10 minutes before game time. (Coaches take notice). not being ready 10 minutes early may result in forfeit! 4. At the end of 7 innings or time has expired. Tie Breaker will apply. (Last out will go to 2nd base to start inning). *NOTE* No courtesy runner for the last out until an out is recorded. Can have a runner for a batter who gets on base, not tie breaker runner until out is recorded. 5. Mercy Rule -15 after 4 or 10 after 5. (Championship game - 15 run rule mercy after 5). 6. Coin flip to determine home team. (Championship game undefeated team has option). 7. Umpire is official scorekeeper. If teams are questioning score, question must be asked before first pitch is made of inning played. Team must have score book kept For Both Teams - No questioning after 1st pitch is made, score stands. 8. Must have 8 players to start game. No penalty for playing shorthanded.
Coed • Must have 8 players to start game. (4 guys/4 girls). • May start w/ 9 players, must take an automatic out for 10th player. • States, NIT’s & Worlds teams must play an even amount of guys and girls. • Can bat up to 12 players must be even amount of men to women.
Rosters And Tournament Fee All rosters must be posted on-line for All World Sports. 1. Rosters must be turned in before 1st game. If any players are to play later in day, names must be on Roster when turned in - No Exceptions, If Roster Check is asked for, will result in forfeit of game if player or players are not on roster. All names must be legible. 2. No player will play on 2 teams in same tournament weekend. (Men to Coed is OK) (Women’s to Coed is OK)
Pitching 1. Arc Pitch - Pitch must have an arc. Not lower than 4ft from the ground & not higher than 10 feet. Strike zone will be used 2. Pitcher can Fake pitch (juke) 5 seconds to release pitch once on mound or in 5ft area behind mound, if pitch is not released, then umpire will call dead ball. 3. Count is 1 ball and 1 strike on batter to start with 1 extra foul(1 and 1). 4. Umpire will not call out illegal on pitches - he feels are illegal until after it crosses the plate. If batter hits ball play is live. 5. Pitcher must have foot on mound or in 5ft area behind mound when releasing pitch. 6. Optional (Check with director of event you are playing) some events may use a mat and 6-12 ft arc with no faking or jukes.
Base Running 1. No lead offs – must stay on base until ball crosses the plate, no stealing 2. Courtesy runners - 1 per inning. LAST OUT RUNS NO EXCEPTIONS - but must let umpire know before courtesy runner steps on base. If runner is not last out and team is caught before he scores, runner is out, Player will be considered a courtesy runner once he steps on base. 3. Runner must slide or avoid contact with defensive player on double plays - (Umpires Discretion) 4. If defensive player has ball, you must slide or be called out for not sliding. (Umpires Discretion) 5. Batter, runner or base runners will be given 2 bases from release of ball once it goes out of play. - 2 bases will be awarded from established base or start of play. 6. Base runner or batter runner can be called out for verbal interference. (Umpires Discretion). 7. If base runner is hit with batted ball, in fair territory. Ball is dead, runners move back to original base. (Umpires Discretion). Player hit by ball is out, batter goes to 1st base. 8. Optional (Check with director of event you are playing) some events may include the Baseburner: Players can now steal once the ball crosses the plate. (Catchers beware!)
Batting 1. All field position players must bat –Can bat up to 12 players max. 2. Must let umpire know how many you are batting. When player arrives late to game. - Let umpire know. Players may be added late as long as team has not batted through the lineup. 3. No infield poopie swings – Automatic out will be called If ball Is hit down in any form of an infield bunt. 4. Count is 1 ball and 1 strike to start with extra foul (1 and 1). In inclement weather count we may start at 2-2, one to waste (Exception – In Inclement weather, one to waste - count is 2-2) 5. Ball is dead once pitch hits plate or ground, or batter swings & misses ball. 6. Umpire will not call out "illegal" on Pitches until after pitch crosses the plate. If Batter hits ball play is live. 7. Bats can be banned if we feel they have been altered or tampered with. Check AWS website to see which bats are legal to use. Note: If batter uses illegal bat - will be called out, play is dead. 8. Batter or Base Runner can be called out for leaving the base path (Umpire Discretion). 9. When your team is batting - All bats, equipment and players, must be in dugout, you may have 1 coach and one on deck batter. When on defense all bats, equipment and all other players will be in dugout. 10. Umpire must call "Time" before, you step out of batters box -this includes before, after and between pitches. If not - pitch will count. When asking for "time" make sure "time" is granted/ it is not automatic.
Homeruns Men’s 40 & Over 6 per game Men’s Elite 8 per game Men’s D 4 per game Men’s E 2 per game Coed Elite teams 6 per game Coed D 2 per game Coed E 0 per game Elite Women’s 3 D Women’s 1 E Women’s 0 Pool Play Tie Breakers: For the purpose of tiebreakers in pool play, all wins are worth 2 pts, all ties are worth 1 pt, and losses are 0 pts.
Protest and Appeals 1. If any protest is to be made, ask umpire to call Director. $100 cash fee - Protest must be made at time of infraction, not after play has resumed and not after game. No protest on judgment calls. 2. Appeals must be made before next pitch and after infraction, one appeal per base runner.
Ejections and Injuries 1. If a player is ejected from a game. You can sub a player to play in ejected players spot - If no sub available it will be an automatic out. Ejected player may also sit out the next scheduled game.(Directors discretion) 3 or more ejections in the same game will automatically forfeit your game.
2. If player is injured, and there is no substitute, that player's spot will be an out every time at bat.
3. Any player or players using bad profanity words (especially "F" word) or "TAUNTING - INCLUDES ROLLING OF BALL FOR AN OUT may lead to EJECTION” ALSO SNAPPING OF CATCH BALL player can be ejected from game or tournament. (Umpire/Directors Discretion. (Coaches take notice).
4. Any player caught with alcohol or smoking on field or dug-out area can be ejected from game or tournament.
5. Any player that is under the influence of alcohol can be ejected from game or tournament.
6. A ball player ejected for any reason from a game, AND refuses to leave the field and remains otherwise uncooperative with the tournament personnel will be suspended from further play in the tournament and may face further disciplinary action (suspended for 1 year or banned for life) and WILL cause team to forfeit game (coaches take notice).
Team & Player Restrictions 1. Teams may play in higher divisions if, permission is granted by AWS.
2. Directors may check rosters at any time. Teams may also protest roster for $100 cash protest fee. Teams will forfeit all games & prizes if found out to be playing illegally and be subject to suspension. NIT winners must play states to get travel money and paid berth.
Coaches Please Note: 1. It is your responsibility to make sure all your players obey and understand all AWS rules. By entering any AWS event you accept this policy.
2. Be ready to play 10 min. before scheduled game time.
3. Only members on your team roster are allowed in their designated dugout and dugout area.
4. We will supply a new ball and backup per game. Each team is required to throw in backups as needed.
**Director has the right to Forfeit Any Game, Eject Any Player or team for Non-Compliance to AWS rules.**
All World Sports - Conduct Guidelines It is the purpose of All World Sports Association- to conduct the best possible tournaments from all aspects. To obtain this goal AWS must have the cooperation of each player, manager, and coach. Teams are guests in the city that the tournament is being conducted. Nothing should occur that would reflect adversely on the teams, players, host city or AWS. Therefore, it is required that all teams in the tournament comply with the following rules: • Team managers must have full control of their players, coaches and spectators at all times. This means “on” and “off” the field. In case of disputed play or decision, team managers may consult the game officials. The other players, coaches or sponsors are to be kept out of the discussion. • At no time will any participant be allowed to smoke on the fields or in the dugout while participating in an AWS event. • At no time will participants be allowed to drink or have in their possession any alcoholic beverage on the field while participating in any AWS event. • Managers are to report any unsportsmanlike or derogatory acts by players or spectators to the tournament director. The purpose here is to prevent any serious situation developing that would be harmful to the tournament. • Managers, coaches, players, sponsors and teams are liable for suspension by not adhering to the tournament rules in effect. This could mean suspension for a game, games, tournament or a longer duration depending on the act of violation. • A player, coach, manager or sponsor may be suspended for fighting, abusive tactics or unbecoming acts that are detrimental and not in the best interest of AWS and tournament play. • Teams should be careful of their conduct. There should be no action that could reflect adversely on the sponsor, team or division. Teams should remember that the wrong actions of even one player could reflect on the entire team and the various sporting programs. • Failure by a team to pay hotel or motel bills can result in team disbarment from future AWS play. • Bounced check fees are $50 (payable with Cashiers Check , cash or Money Order)
